Navigating Adverse Events: What’s New in CTCAE v6
Friday, February 13, 2026
1:00 – 2:00 PM ET
Accurate and specific reporting of adverse events in clinical trials is critical to the protection of patients
and accurately determining the effects of new cancer treatments. In July of 2025, the NCI released a new
version of the Common Toxicity Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE) version 6. The use of the new version
will be mandated in early 2026 in all NEW NCI CTEP/DCP-supported studies. The newer version is more
aligned with the Medical Dictionary for Regulatory Activities (MedDRA), has new Adverse Event terms, and
removed outdated or less clinically relevant ones. Grading thresholds have also been updated for accuracy
including laboratory-based AE grading being patient-specific. With the advances in therapy options such as
cell and gene therapy, the new version will support consistency in adverse event grading with these new
therapies. This webinar will review basic adverse event reporting and the changes made between version
5 and 6, to assist nurses in understanding how to utilize the new terms and grading scales.
