A retrograde IV is a venous catheter placed in retrograde (pointing toward the fingers) in a heated hand, which facilitates an 'arterialized' venous blood sample. Does anyone place these IVs in their research practice?
I have experience placing retrograde IVs for CLAMPS
We did these in the past for Clamp studies but have had not request to do them in several years.
